## Metal impacts

[Metal Impact Sounds](https://opengameart.org/content/metal-impact-sounds), by BMacZero (Brian MacIntosh), is explicitly marked CC0. Its page says optional credit to Brian MacIntosh. Only three short variations are included; the source WAVs are linked directly below.

The metal group also includes two short real foley strikes by Joseph Sardin, released under CC0 by BigSoundBank: [Aluminum lid 20 cm](https://bigsoundbank.com/couvercle-en-aluminium-20cm-sample-s0379.html) and [Aluminum pan bottom 26 cm](https://bigsoundbank.com/fond-poele-en-aluminium-26cm-sample-s0382.html). These are material recordings, not firearm recordings; the runtime truncates them to 0.22 seconds to keep the strike dry.

## Bullet impacts by surface

[Impact](https://opengameart.org/content/impact), by Iwan “qubodup” Gabovitch, is CC0. The archive provides material-hit effects for metal, stone and wood, based on Freesound material. Its page requests optional attribution; credit qubodup and link to the source page.

| Local file | Source file | Surface |
| --- | --- | --- |
| impact-metal-qubodup.ogg | qubodupImpactMetal.ogg | Metal |
| impact-concrete-1.ogg | qubodupImpactStone.ogg | Concrete / stone |
| impact-wood-qubodup.ogg | qubodupImpactWood.ogg | Wood |

The first impact pass also included excerpts from [Paintball: shots, impacts drums metal](https://bigsoundbank.com/paintball-tirs-impacts-futs-metalliques-s0530.html) and [Paintball: shots, wood impacts](https://bigsoundbank.com/paintball-tirs-impacts-bois-s0529.html), recorded by Joseph Sardin and released under CC0. They were later dropped from the combat impact sampler because the source recordings also contain paintball firing activity, and their files have been removed.

The powdery surface group uses short crunches from [Steps in the snow #3](https://bigsoundbank.com/steps-in-the-snow-3-s3363.html), a CC0 outdoor foley recording by Joseph Sardin. These are surface-texture excerpts, not firearm recordings.

## Soldier footsteps

[Fantozzi's Footsteps (Grass/Sand & Stone)](https://opengameart.org/content/fantozzis-footsteps-grasssand-stone), recorded by Fantozzi and submitted by qubodup, is explicitly marked CC0. The source page identifies the 12 clips as single steps, says sand is suitable for grass, and suggests stone for hard surfaces. The bundled files are the original OGG clips from [Fantozzi-footsteps.7z](https://opengameart.org/sites/default/files/Fantozzi-footsteps.7z).

## Processing

The firearm and reload files use the processing described above. The three metal hits were converted to 24 kHz stereo Vorbis quality 4 with a 55 Hz high-pass and 10 kHz low-pass. The snow and ice excerpts were converted to 24 kHz mono Vorbis quality 4 with a 50 ms end fade. The qubodup impact OGG files retain their source encoding. The mechanical explosion was converted from 96 kHz stereo to 24 kHz stereo Vorbis quality 4 with a 35 Hz high-pass and 11 kHz low-pass. The laser shots were converted from MP3 to 24 kHz stereo Vorbis quality 4 with a 70 Hz high-pass and 11 kHz low-pass. Footsteps retain the source OGG encoding. Their exported sample groups are in `src/effect-sampler.ts`; callers select a variation per event and keep the existing spatial mix and voice limits. Human listening and live combat mix acceptance remain required.
